If you are interested in LASIK eye surgery you may have some important questions. Please feel free to look through some of the most common questions we hear from our LASIK patients, and contact us to schedule a free evaluation.

Q: What is LASIK?

LASIK stands for Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, a vision correction treatment that utilizes laser energy to reshape the eye’s cornea and improve the way it refracts light. The LASIK procedure is designed to help patients who are affected by nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism enhance their vision and reduce their dependence on eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Q: Why should I choose Bliss Eye Associates to perform my LASIK procedure?

We have a highly experienced team of eye doctors and vision care experts. We are at the leading edge of laser vision correction, employing some of the latest technologies to provide patients with the best possible results. Here at Bliss Eye Associates, there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to patient care – we customize each procedure to each patient’s individual needs and goals.

Q: How do I know if I am a candidate for LASIK?

During your initial free consultation here at Bliss Eye Associates, our eye doctor will evaluate your needs and determine if LASIK is the right option for you. Candidates for LASIK are those who are over 18 years of age, have had a stable vision prescription for at least a year, are not currently affected by certain eye conditions, and have corneas that are thick enough for the procedure.

Q: Are there alternatives to LASIK if I am not a candidate?

For patients who may not be candidates for LASIK, another laser procedure called PRK offers very similar benefits. Intraocular lens implants (IOLs) can also be considered. Like LASIK, these options are designed to sharpen vision and reduce reliance on corrective eyewear.

Q: How long does the procedure usually take?

LASIK is well-known for its rapid treatment process, and the doctors at Bliss Eye Associates make every effort to ensure the procedure is as quick and comfortable as possible.

Q: What about Recovery?

LASIK is an outpatient procedure, and many patients experience a very rapid visual recovery after treatment is complete. In fact, most people are back to normal daily activities the next day.

Q: Is LASIK covered by insurance?

Since laser vision correction is considered an elective procedure under most insurance plans, LASIK is typically not a covered treatment. However, our practice offers a range of payment options, including CareCredit® healthcare financing for qualified applicants, that can help bring the cost of vision care into your budget.

Q: Do you offer free LASIK consultations?

Yes, your initial LASIK consultation is complimentary. During this first meeting, your vision will be evaluated and our doctor will answer all of your questions. Your candidacy for the procedure will also be determined at the consultation, and your treatment options will be thoroughly discussed.
